Bakersfield Bohras Take Part In Children First Food Distribution

The Dawoodi Bohras of Bakersfield participated in the Children’s First food distribution drive-through event organized by Bakersfield City Councilmember Andrae Gonzales to support local Bakersfield area residents in need. Volunteers gathered at the David Nelson Pocket Park in downtown Bakersfield and made food packets with various canned fruits, vegetables and meats. The prepared food packets allowed recipients to simply drive through near the park and pick them up. Around 25 to 30 youth volunteers were gathered on a cool spring afternoon including around eight members of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Even kids got involved, excited to be outdoors and helping put together boxes and counting canned items to be placed into their respective food packets.

Our beloved Spiritual Leader, Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS) has always encouraged us to help those in need in whatever way possible, especially during these tough pandemic years. When the opportunity to participate in the Food Distribution Drive came, the Dawoodi Bohras were excited to rise to serve the larger Bakersfield community.

Around 250 families were given packets in just a few hours. We thank all the organizers and volunteers at the food distribution drive for making such a giant impact on Bakersfield and allowing our Dawoodi Bohra community to be part of it! We look forward to participating regularly in serving the larger Bakersfield community and those in need.
