Students from the Chicago Dawoodi Bohras partnered with World Relief Chicago to hold a school supply drive for the children of refugee families. During the month-long drive, the students met weekly to collect supplies such as crayons and backpacks.

The school supplies drive was planned and executed by the volunteers of Project Rise Chicago in collaboration with World Relief Chicago. Their combined efforts culminated on September 19 when Project Rise members made their generous donation to the Carol Stream, Illinois center of World Relief. The reception of these supplies was met with deep gratitude, with Jennifer Ferraro, Director of Children & Youth Services-DuPage & Aurora, expressing immense appreciation for the gesture.

Supporting Global Communities Locally

“In a world where every act of kindness matters, the students of the Chicago Dawoodi Bohras have demonstrated the power of community efforts,” said Arwa Karimi. “From crayons to backpacks, each donation, no matter how small, symbolized a beacon of hope for a child starting anew in a foreign land.”

World Relief Chicago is committed to rebuilding the lives of refugees and other vulnerable immigrants. With the ongoing global challenges, many families find solace in Chicago, migrating from crisis-stricken regions such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine. The visit by Project Rise members to the World Relief Chicago office was an enlightening experience. They delved deep into the multifaceted services offered by the organization, ranging from immigration assistance to on-site therapy.

The endeavors of Project Rise Chicago, especially their collaboration with organizations like World Relief Chicago, underscores the potential of community-based initiatives. Their structured approach ensures that their efforts are channeled effectively, resulting in meaningful impact in the lives of those they aim to support.
