OUR COMMUNITY
The Dawoodi Bohra community of New York is part of the global community of Dawoodi Bohras, with 150 families living throughout Long Island, Queens, New York City, and Connecticut.
Members of our community first immigrated to New York five decades ago and have been worshipping throughout at community centers in New Jersey and Queens, New York. With the blessings of His Holiness, Dr. Syedna Aali Qader Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS), our community is working hard to complete the building of a new mosque — a defining moment in the history of the Dawoodi Bohra community in New York.
The inauguration of the mosque in New York by His Holiness is a long-awaited dream of all community members for whom this place of worship represents a source of not just religious but also social and community support.
Following the guidance of His Holiness, who represents our moral and spiritual compass, the Dawoodi Bohras in New York believe in working toward the betterment of the country and community they reside in. We are committed to tackling issues such as malnutrition and pollution in society, and have organized food drives in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. We are also making efforts to stop the usage of single-use plastics within our community center and eliminate food wastage.
