Our Community in Austin

Nestled in the heart of Texas, the Dawoodi Bohra community of Austin reflects the city’s innovative spirit and dedication to sustainability. With over 210 members, we contribute to Austin’s dynamic culture as tech professionals, entrepreneurs, healthcare providers, and educators. Our shared goal is to blend tradition with progress while championing sustainable practices that enhance the community we call home.

Where We Are

Our community is centered in Pflugerville, a thriving suburb known for its green initiatives and welcoming atmosphere. From gathering at our community center for events and prayers to enjoying Austin’s iconic attractions like Lady Bird Lake and the Barton Creek Greenbelt, we are deeply engaged in the region’s vibrancy and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Where We Are

Our Story

The Dawoodi Bohras found its home in Austin during the 1980s, drawn by the city’s reputation for innovation and opportunity. Over time, we’ve grown into a close-knit community of over 100 families, connected by faith, shared values, and a forward-thinking approach to life. “Austin’s culture encourages us to think creatively and act responsibly,” shares a member of our community.

Our Story

Our Community

Our congregation is diverse, comprising hard working entrepreneurs and professionals who embody the spirit of innovation that Austin is known for. We emphasize education and social responsibility, with our youth leading efforts to launch a Green Initiative aimed at using biodegradable materials and promoting recycling. Following the values of our faith, we strive to adopt sustainable practices in our daily lives.

Austin itself is a celebration of local business and culture, and this resonates with our members, who include talented entrepreneurs and professionals from the expanding fields of technology and healthcare. Many of our members are proud Longhorns, having pursued their education at the University of Texas, which remains the heart and soul of Austin.

Serving the Wider Community

We proudly partner with interfaith and nonprofit organizations to support local food drives and help rebuild homes, fostering strong relationships within our community. Our community center is located next to the Central Church of Christ, where we have cultivated a genuine friendship with our neighbors.
Whether hosting iftar dinners during Ramadan or participating in local service projects, we aim to connect with our neighbors and give back to the greater Austin community.
