The Dawoodi Bohra community in Bakersfield is a close-knit family of dedicated individuals who call this agricultural heartland their home.
Where We Are
Our community is spread throughout Bakersfield and the surrounding areas, where vast fields and orchards create a picturesque backdrop. You’ll find us gathering regularly at our community center and participating in local events, such as the Kern County Fair, where we celebrate the best of what our region has to offer.

Our story in Bakersfield begins in the 1970s, when our first families were drawn to the area’s fertile land and opportunity. Since then, the Bakersfield Bohras have grown to a driven and dynamic community of over 151 members.

With members from various professions, including educators and small business owners, our men and women contribute to the local flavor of the city.
Many of our young folks are proud to be “Rams” at Cal State Bakersfield, while others are pursuing opportunities at local community colleges. A handful of our youth are also pursuing advanced studies at Al Jamea-tus-Saifiyah, the Dawoodi Bohra community’s premier Arabic academy.

During Ramadan, we invite our interfaith friends and neighbors to join us for iftar dinners, fostering connections and sharing the spirit of togetherness.
