Here in the heart of the Garden State, the Dawoodi Bohra community has found a home in New Jersey for decades. With over 1518 members, we are proud New Jerseyans dedicated to contributing towards the culture and innovation of our great state.
Where We Are
Our community spans cities and towns across New Jersey, from the bustling urban centers of Newark and Jersey City to the peaceful suburbs and scenic shorelines. You’ll find our members often gathering at our masjid or out enjoying the history and natural beauty of New Jersey.
On any given weekend, you might find us strolling through Liberty State Park, volunteering at local food banks, or enjoying a day at the Jersey Shore. From the Watchung Mountains to the Pine Barrens, supporting the Giants to strolling Rutgers campuses, within the sights and sounds of New Jersey, we find home.

Our Story
The story of the Dawoodi Bohra community in New Jersey began in the 1960s when the first families settled here, drawn by the state’s booming economy and excellent schools.
Over the years, our community has grown to include professionals in healthcare, finance, technology, education, and more—all contributing to the growth and vibrancy of New Jersey.

Our young members excel in the state’s renowned universities, including Rutgers, NJIT, and Princeton, while others pursue studies abroad at Al Jamea-tus-Saifiyah, the premier Arabic academy of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Today, we are proud to be a close-knit community rooted in tradition while embracing modernity.

Our members reflect the diversity and creativity of New Jersey itself. From men and women who are business owners, artists, and information technology experts, to engineers, entrepreneurs, and educators, we are united by our shared commitment to faith, learning, and service.
We actively promote Quranic memorization across all ages, with several members achieving the remarkable milestone of memorizing the entire Quran. Our focus on education, family, and community service remains at the core of everything we do.

Nestled amongst a number of houses of worship in the East Brunswick area, including local churches and synagogues, our masjid exemplifies the values of sanctity of worship to the Creator and religious tolerance. True to the spirit of the Garden State, our nearly ten-acre campus houses a green arboretum-like landscape with wooded plants, including many of local New Jersey origin. Many of the trees lining our campus’ perimeter were individually planted by community members in an effort to play a part in securing a sustainable future for our planet.

Service lies at the heart of who we are. In New Jersey, we actively engage in initiatives that uplift our neighbors and protect the environment. From hosting interfaith iftar dinners during Ramadan with the churches and temples that neighbor us to organizing clean-ups along the Raritan River and the Jersey Shore, we work to make a positive impact in our state.
Serving the Wider Community
We partner with local charities to support those in need, and environmental stewardship is a top priority. Whether planting trees, participating in urban garden projects, or supporting water conservation efforts, we are dedicated to preserving New Jersey’s natural beauty and resources for future generations.
