For over 40 years, the Dawoodi Bohras have called the New York state home. With a strong presence in Queens and branch communities in Buffalo and Albany, we are a diverse group that contributes to the vibrancy of this state.
Where We Are
Primarily based in Queens, our activities center around our masjid. Members from Buffalo and Albany stay connected through regional gatherings, and many travel to Queens for larger events, creating a statewide network of faith and friendship.

Our Story
The Dawoodi Bohras’ New York journey began over five decades ago, with a few families settling in Queens, drawn by the opportunities of the city. Over the years, the community has grown into a close-knit network of 150 families dedicated to faith, education, and service.

Our members, who work in fields such as technology, healthcare, education, law, and business, strive to empower not just our community but also the neighborhoods we call home.
Education is a cornerstone of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Members attend prestigious universities in New York and beyond, while some pursue advanced studies at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, the Dawoodi Bohra community’s premier Arabic academy.
The community’s commitment to global engagement is reflected in its association with the United Nations, where members participate in initiatives that align with the organization’s goals of sustainability, peace, and social development.
Prioritizing care and respect for our senior members is also a strong value of our community. Regular “Seniors’ Day” events provide opportunities for the community to honor its elders, fostering intergenerational connections and a sense of belonging.
