Here in the Tar Heel State, Dawoodi Bohras in cities such as Raleigh, Durham, and Charlotte have established roots and flourished over the years. With families who are small business owners, IT professionals, healthcare providers, educators, and legal experts, our members contribute actively to the cultural and economic vibrancy of North Carolina.
Where We Are
Our community is primarily centered in the Research Triangle and the Charlotte metropolitan area, regions known for their innovation, excellent schools, natural beauty, and a friendly, welcoming environment.
We gather regularly at our community center in Raleigh and participate in statewide events, such as food drives, environmental clean-ups, interfaith gatherings, and wellness initiatives like step challenges that unite and inspire our members.

Where We Are
Our Story
The Dawoodi Bohra story in North Carolina began in the 1980s when our first families arrived in the region. Since then, the community has grown into a diverse and close-knit group of families united by faith, culture, and a commitment to service. Today, we are a vibrant community of nearly 153 individuals who proudly call North Carolina home.

Our members represent a wide range of professions and interests, from STEM and healthcare to entrepreneurship, social justice, and the arts.
North Carolina Bohras also prioritize education. Many of our youth attend the renowned universities of the state, including Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, and NC State University, while others pursue their studies at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, the premier Arabic academy of the Dawoodi Bohra community.
We are proud to support Quranic memorization efforts, with several members having completed this noble endeavor.
In addition to academic and spiritual pursuits, our community is passionate about health and wellness. The Dawoodi Bohra community in the Carolinas organize step challenges aimed at promoting physical activity and healthy living for participants of all ages. Events like these strengthen community bonds while promoting a culture of wellness.

Currently, we are in the process of establishing a permanent home, a masjid, here in Raleigh. In the interim, we gather at a community hall for prayers, celebrations, and cultural and community events.
Serving the Wider Community
The Dawoodi Bohras of North Carolina are dedicated to giving back to our local community and the state as a whole.
We regularly host interfaith events, such as Iftar dinners during Ramadan, to build bridges of understanding and friendship with our neighbors. During state and national holidays, we hold events that honor local heroes, including first responders, educators, and healthcare workers.
