The Dawoodi Bohra community in Philadelphia began in the 1970s when highly educated professionals, including engineers, scientists, and doctors, first arrived from India. Over the years, some of these early settlers have achieved remarkable recognition, including honors from the United Nations and even the Nobel Prize.
In 2009, we established our markaz, a tranquil venue that has since become the focal point for community events and initiatives. For the past 25 years, the Philadelphia Jamaat has operated independently, nurturing a vibrant and dynamic group of individuals united by shared values and aspirations.

Guided by the principles of our faith, the Dawoodi Bohras of Philadelphia are dedicated to being contributing members of society, fostering knowledge, and building bridges of compassion and respect.

Our community plays an active role in uplifting the region through service initiatives. Regular food drives provide vital support to local families, and our biannual highway cleanup initiative reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship. These efforts demonstrate our ethos of giving back to the community we are proud to be part of.
Our members are also trailblazers in fields such as technology, medicine, law, education, and business. Through innovative contributions, including patents and job creation, the Dawoodi Bohras of Philadelphia are helping to shape a brighter future for the wider community.
