Nestled along California’s picturesque coastline, the Dawoodi Bohra community of San Diego is a close-knit group of families from diverse backgrounds, including India, Pakistan, and East Africa. Though small in size, our strong bonds make our community feel like one big family.

San Diego is renowned for its breathtaking beaches, iconic Zoo, and the cultural hub of Balboa Park. Our community gathers regularly for prayers, celebrations, and events, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Our Story
The Dawoodi Bohra families in San Diego have steadily grown over the years, blending tradition with the opportunities offered by this beautiful city. While we may be small in number compared to other metropolitan Bohra communities, we share a deep commitment to supporting one another and our local neighbors.

From young to old, our community is built by the diverse interests that our men and women master, ranging from fields in STEM, environmental sustainability, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, and social justice.
We have students who pursue the fantastic universities of our state as well as locals that choose to study abroad at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, the premier Arabic institution of the Dawoodi Bohra community.
Our community supports Quranic memorization across all ages, with six members having memorized the entire Quran.

We are actively working toward establishing a permanent masjid in San Diego. For now, we gather at a community space that serves as a hub for worship, celebrations, and social events, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.

Giving back to the city we love is central to who we are. Our community is regularly involved in:
- Supporting food drives and local charities.
- Hosting interfaith iftar gatherings during Ramadan.
- Participating in beach clean-ups and environmental initiatives.
These efforts bring us closer to the broader San Diego community, reflecting our values of compassion, sustainability, and service.
