The Dawoodi Bohra community in Tampa is a growing family dedicated to faith, education, and service. Located in one of Florida’s most spirited cities, our community members contribute to various sectors, including healthcare, education, business, and technology, helping to shape the stories that bring this city alive.

Our community can be found spread across Tampa, a city known for its coastal beauty, thriving cultural scene, and warm weather. We love taking in the city’s natural beauty, but as we’re just a short distance downtown, we also enjoy taking part in cultural events that occur here year-round.

Our Story

Our story in Tampa begins in the 1970s, when our first families settled here. Since then, the Tampa Bohras have grown to a driven and dynamic community of 201 people.

Our Community

From young to old, our community is built by the diverse interests that our men and women master, ranging from fields in STEM, environmental sustainability, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, and social justice.

We have students who pursue the fantastic universities of our state as well as locals that choose to study abroad at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, the premier Arabic institution of the Dawoodi Bohra community.

Our community supports Quranic memorization across all ages, with six members having memorized the entire Quran.

In the heart of downtown Tampa, our masjid and community center is a welcoming home for worship, learning, service, and celebration. It hosts daily prayers, along with cultural programs, volunteer drives and neighborhood gatherings. More than a house of worship, it’s a civic hub—strengthening ties with our neighbors and reflecting Tampa’s diversity. For the Dawoodi Bohras and for all who visit, it stands as a beacon of faith, peace, and community.

Serving the Wider Community

We remain committed to giving back to the broader community. Collaborating with governmental bodies, local charities, food banks, and organizations, we do our small part in providing support to those in need. Our Ramadan initiatives include hosting iftar dinners for neighbors and interfaith partners, creating an atmosphere of unity and respect.
