In an effort to get ahead of the world’s leading cause of death, heart disease, the Dawoodi Bohra community of Los Angeles organized a Coronary Calcium Scoring Drive on February 22 at My Heart Vision, a newly launched, state-of-the-art cardiac CT imaging center.
The event provided community members with advanced, non-invasive heart screenings using cutting-edge cardiac CT technology. The test, known as coronary calcium scoring, is a critical tool for early detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) by measuring calcium deposits in arteries. Through identifying individuals at risk before symptoms appear, physicians are able to recommend timely preventive measures and lifestyle modifications.
“We are thrilled to partner with My Heart Vision, an institution dedicated to advanced cardiac imaging, to bring this life-saving technology to our community,” said Dr. Aamer Jamali, MD cardiologist and secretary of SBMAA, a non-profit medical organization dedicated to community health. “By offering this screening, we hope to raise awareness about heart disease prevention and empower individuals to take charge of their heart health.”
Pre-registered participants received scans on-sight, with medical professionals available to explain results and recommend personalized next steps based on each individual’s risk profile.
The event reflects the Dawoodi Bohra community’s broader commitment to public health and early intervention, aligning with Project Rise, a global initiative focused on uplifting individuals and communities. By creating accessible pathways to cutting-edge technology, they hope to encourage a shift from reactive to proactive healthcare—beginning with the heart. This access is a step toward enabling access to make informed lifestyle choices and promote long-term heart health awareness.
