The young adults of the Detroit Bohras are a notable example of service, unity, and empowerment for the local community. These enthusiastic individuals, students and young professionals between the ages of 14 and 25 years old, actively participate in a diverse array of initiatives from community service to sports. They showcase their commitment to philanthropy with an emphasis on healthy camaraderie by harnessing the many talents and skills of their members to uplift the local community like helping at the community kitchen, Faiz al-Mawaid al-Burhaniyah and volunteering for wider community initiatives such as the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.

The Triumph of Teamwork

This drive for community enrichment was on display on Sunday, August 20th, as the young men and women of the Detroit Dawoodi Bohras hosted their Second Tri-Sports Tournament. Thirty-six participants forming four teams competed in flag-football, ultimate frisbee, relay races, Kan-jam, and FIFA-style penalty kick shootouts.

In the preliminary rounds, each team faced off against one another in various sports, setting the stage for an intense competition. The top team secured a direct spot in the finals, while the 2nd and 3rd place teams battled it out on the football field for a chance to challenge the leaders for the coveted trophy.

The success of the tournament was largely attributed to the generous support of numerous local businesses, including TONE, Eastside Podiatry, Aquatic Solutions PT, Sabir Healthy Vending, Livernois Primary and Urgent Care, Burhani Medical Clinic, Michigan Women’s Health, Heart Care Associates PLLC, and YZ Medical Billing.

Looking Ahead with Positivity

Ahmed Hussain, a long-standing member of the Bohras Young Adults organization expressed that “participating in these activities provides the young adults of the Dawoodi Bohra Detroit community an opportunity to forge strong, lasting bonds. These bonds strengthen both our group and the broader community for years to come. We all enjoy playing these sports together, and organizing a tournament of this size was truly special. We hope to do more in the future on an even larger scale.”

The Detroit Dawoodi Bohra Young Adults Organization’s commitment to fostering togetherness through such events promises a future of positivity and unity.
