In celebration of the festive spirit of giving and helping those in need, the Dawoodi Bohras of New Jersey partnered with NJ Clothing Drive and Aldersgate Outreach Community Center to hold a “Clean the Closet” clothing drive. Over the course of a week, community members were encouraged to donate new or lightly used clothing and linens to the Bohras’ local masjid (or mosque). At the end of the week, volunteers from the community gathered to organize and distribute almost 30 bags worth of donations.
In total, the Dawoodi Bohras donated eight bags of linens and clothes to Millennium Textile Inc in Flanders, NJ, and a further eighteen bags of winter jackets and clothing were dropped to the Aldersgate Community Center in East Brunswick, NJ.
This clothing drive is a part of Project Rise, a global initiative sponsored by the Dawoodi Bohra Community that strives to help vulnerable members of society in a range of ways.
