US Congresswoman Norma Torres visited our masjid in the City of Ontario to meet with Dawoodi Bohras of Orange County and the Inland Empire. We discussed our shared commitment to food security, upliftment, and community service. Dawoodi Bohra women also talked about their business enterprises and the support of the community in advancing their efforts.
Congresswoman Torres represents California’s 35th Congressional District. Dawoodi Bohras have lived and worked in this district, and surrounding areas, for more than three decades.
Following discussion with community members, Congresswoman Torres was taken for a tour of the masjid and was presented with symbolic gifts, on behalf of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, including a shawl and a tiffin to serve as a symbol of the community’s Faiz-al-Mawaid al-Burhaniyah community kitchen program. The Congresswoman said she would proudly display the tiffin in her office in Washington, DC.
